Food holidays for the week of 15 December

How many of last's week food holidays did you celebrate? I did indeed eat ice cream and listen to violin music on Ice Cream and  Violin Day. This week's lineup of food holidays is a delectable assortment:

  • December 15: National Cupcake Day
  • December 16: National Chocolate-Covered Anything Day
  • December 17: National Maple Syrup Day
  • December 18: National Roast Suckling Pig Day
  • December 19: National Hard Candy Day
  • December 20: National Fried Shrimp Day AND  National Sangria Day
  • December 21: National Hamburger Day AND Kiwi Fruit Day

  • I enjoy making sangria; I've made red sangria for family and friends to consume when visiting. If you'd like to try making sangria a home, check online sites such as allrecipes or food network. Bartending recipe books often include a recipe for sangria. I've also  found sangria in all inclusive cookbooks  such as Joy of Cooking as specialty cookbooks (e.g., food and beverage of Spain). I find  sangria to be a flexible beverage in that you can add the fruits of your choosing to create the flavor  profile you desire (e.g. white sangria featuring orange and cranberry).
