My father liked mincemeat pie; my mother occasionally made one for him. When I was a child I had read and heard about mincemeat pies in stories such as Charles Dickens'
A Christmas Carol , but the thought of eating a pie full of meat didn't appeal to me. Finally, my mother explained that modern day mincemeat pies were you a combination of sugar, fruits both fresh and dried, Brandy and suet (vegetarians alternatives are available). She used a jar of prepared mincemeat in her pies.
Thanks to
the Nibble for cataloging the food holidays.
Which holiday(s) will you celebrate? Which holiday(s) will you avoid? Have a great week!
Be well,
Technicolor girl
