Technicolor Dining at Capitol Hill Rotary Club

On one of the coldest days of the Fall I took the subway to the Dubliner Restaurant near Union Station to talk to the members of the Capitol Hill Rotary Club about the Technicolor Dining blog. I arrived at the Dubliner before 7am, so it's doors were closed but the manager of the adjacent Park Phoenix Hotel allowed me to wait inside the lobby and stay warm (the temperature was 26 degrees, before wind chill).

The members of the Club were friendly and welcoming. The Club holds its meetings in a separate room in the restaurant, so members and guest could freely move about and chat. As I re-read my notes I looked up and saw a friend approaching me. I was impressed and touched that she had made come out in the freezing temperatures to hear me speak

The Club meeting began with meeting formalities and introduction of guests. My friend encouraged me to eat  before speaking by repeatedly telling me, "You must eat so you can focus during your presentation".  I just couldn't make myself eat - partially nerves, partially concern for having breakfast food stuck on my teeth when speaking.

The audience was receptive and listened aptly as I talked about the Technicolor dining journey, raising awareness, and what's next for the blog. At the end of the presentation there was discussion about food deserts - perfect!

Bonus: since the presentation the number of Technicolor dining Facebook page and Twitter page have gained several new followers.

Many thanks to the Capitol Hill Rotary Club for the opportunity to talk about Technicolor dining. I am grateful for the opportunity and the warm reception.  I hope our paths cross again.

Be well,

Technicolor girl
