Did  you know that the cashew nut is the seed from the cashew tree? According to Wikipedia, the cashew tree is a a tropical evergreen tree that produces the cashew nut and the cashew apple. It can grow as high as 46 ft;  the dwarf cashew tree can grow up to 20 ft.

Approximately 10%  of a cashew's weight is starch, as a result they are sometimes used in recipes to thicken a mixture ( e.g. soups, stews). I use ground cashews to make a carrot and cashew nut loaf.

In addition to cashew nuts, the cashew tree apple's pulp is often processed to produced a fruit drink or distilled  to create a liqueur.
