Will you Be My V---------? Part I

I began receiving emails last week concerning Valentine's Day. One email's subject line read, "Will you be my Valentine?  Retailers and related businesses know that Valentine's Day is BIG business  (Christmas is a close second) and the time to capture your attention is N-O-W.

I recently chatted with a couple who asked me about suggestions about Valentine's Day. I replied that they either go to dinner before Valentine's Day itself and instead stay in and have a chef come to their home  and prepare a meal for them. The husband looked a bit relieved.  The wife asked for more details about personal chefs.

Personal chefs will come to your home and prepare a meal based on your dietary requirements and preferences. For holidays like Valentine's Day some personal chefs have developed packages with menu options to choose from.  Ask family and friends for referrals.  Reputable personal chefs are happy to provide references, answer questions about the qualifications, professional members, and insurance coverage.

Here are a few examples of personal chef options in the Washington, DC area:

Kitchen surfing: local chefs prepare meals in the homes of individuals. The site represents several metropolitan areas including Boston,  Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC.  I noticed that Chef Ron Reid is offering a Valentine's Day dinner package for prospective diners in the DC area.

Chef Danielle Turner, owner of Great Taste: A Personal Chef  Service,  offers in home preparation of meals for clients.  Chef Turner is also a cooking instructor and food writer.

Elegant Eating - A Vi Thorpe Affair - offers casual and elegant meal options for intimate dining, family dining or events.

The wife seemed to satisfied with the information. They both asked beverage recommendations. I'll discuss that in Part II.

Are there personal chefs or organizations that you would recommend to others? Share your feedback in the comments section below.

Be well,

Each recipe featured a different ingredient (pumpkin pie filling, applesauce, butterscotch morsels). Check allrecipes.com, tasteofhome.com , and food.com. or bakeaholicmam.com. Keep me posted on the muffins turn out!
