The James Beard Foundation’s Taste America® Washington, DC

I recently received an email with the words 'press credentials' in the subject line. I initially thought it was one of the countless SPAM or phishing emails that arrive in the blog's inbox.  I decided to take a quick look at the email to determine if it was SPAM or phishing.  It was not SPAM. It was not a  phishing scam. It was media advisory alerting me that my request to cover an event had been granted!!! Here is the advisory:

What: A once-in-a-lifetime culinary collaboration will kick off Washington DC’s Taste America weekend on Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Mandarin Oriental. Dubbed A Night of Culinary Stars, the exclusive dining event will benefit the James Beard Foundation. The JBF Taste America evening will begin with a reception filled with bites and libations from local chefs, including Marjorie Meek-Bradley, Jeffrey Buben, Anthony Chittum, Katsuya Fukushima, and Ed Scarpone. Afterwards, guests will be seated for an exceptional dinner prepared by James Beard Award-winning chefs, Taste America All-Star Charles Phan and Local Star Vikram Sunderam, along with Host Chef Didier Pouzier, who have worked together to design a unique multi-course menu diners won’t forget.
